Students Showcase India’s Space Journey Through Art at Rohilkhand University

Bareilly: Students of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, showcased their creativity and scientific imagination through a national-level drawing and painting activity organised as part of Indian Space Week ahead of National Space Day on August 23, 2026.

The activity was organised by the University Cultural Centre at Pandit Deen Dayal Mishra Inter College, run by the university. It formed part of a series of national-level activities being conducted for students, teachers, researchers and members of the public to mark National Space Day.

For the drawing and painting activity, students downloaded the official activity sheet from the Indian Space Week website and created artwork based on the prescribed theme. They subsequently uploaded their completed artworks online.

The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who used colours and illustrations to express their artistic talent, creativity and understanding of India’s achievements and developments in the field of space science.

Arohi secured first position in the competition, followed by Khushi in second place and Himanshu in third. The artworks of the winning students will also be uploaded on the official website. Certificates will be presented to participants in recognition of their active participation and creative expression.

Vice-Chancellor Prof KP Singh said that drawing, painting and other creative activities organised under Indian Space Week play an important role in developing scientific thinking as well as creativity among students. He said space science is not limited to scientists and researchers, but also encourages curiosity, imagination and innovation among young learners.

He added that such activities help students connect with India’s achievements in space exploration and inspire them to contribute to the fields of science and technology in the future.

Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey said National Space Day would be observed across the country on August 23 and that a range of national-level online activities were being organised to ensure the participation of students, teachers, researchers and the general public.

She said the activities aim to increase awareness about space science while promoting knowledge, scientific thinking and creativity among participants.

As part of the celebrations, a national online webinar is also being organised. Experts will provide participants with insights into space science, India’s space programme, the Chandrayaan missions, satellite technology, innovation in the space sector and emerging space technologies. Registered participants will be able to attend the webinar online, with August 20, 2026, set as the final date for registration.

Participants have also been given an opportunity to take the National Space Day online pledge. Through the pledge, participants can express their commitment to scientific thinking, innovation and nation-building. Certificates will be issued to those completing the pledge, while participants in various online activities will also receive certificates of participation.

The successful organisation of the programme was supported by Registrar Mahendra Kumar Singh, Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey, Principal Dr Binita Prakash, Manpreet Kaur, Dr Pushplata Singh, Sunita Bharti, Baby Sharma, Abhishek Chaudhary, Omveer Gangwar, Anuj Baliyan and members of the Cultural Club.

Students including Himanshu, Arohi, Khushi, Sadhna, Shalini, Munish, Shreya, Akanksha, Geeta and Preeti participated in the competition.
